Every year the Overview exhibition of the Canton of Zurich provides a multifaceted look at what artists are currently producing in Zurich. Twenty-four artists are presented from the Canton of Zurich, who are nominated for one of twelve grants of 24,000 Swiss francs each.

The exhibition, which is conceived and implemented by the Department of Culture, was shown from 2014 to 2023 at the Museum Haus Konstrukiv. Now the exhibition will take place concurrently with December Exhibition at the Kunst Museum Winterthur.

Once a year, the grants in visual art are awarded by a jury in a two-step procedure, both in recognition of work already accomplished and immediate, effective support: grants from the Department of Culture provide support to artists residing in the Canton of Zurich in further developing their art and enabling them to pursue their artistic work for a certain amount of time without financial pressure. The exhibition in the museum also offers them a prominent platform for reaching a broad public and specialized audience.

The Kunst Museum Winterthur is pleased to host the Overview exhibition of the Canton of Zurich and to participate in presenting the pulsating art scene in and around Zurich.
